FIRST-EVER AUSTRALIAN ALPS DRONE SHOW: RANGE ROVER AT THREDBO
AURA Drone Shows was proud to officially open The Residency by Range Rover event at Thredbo on Saturday 25 July, delivering the first-ever drone light show in the Australian Alps.
Set against the breathtaking alpine landscape of Kosciuszko National Park, 500 synchronised drones illuminated the night sky above Thredbo Village in a spectacular display celebrating the partnership between Range Rover and Thredbo. The performance marked a milestone not only for the event, but also for the region, introducing an entirely new form of aerial entertainment to one of Australia's most iconic alpine destinations.
Designed exclusively for the upcoming week’s festivities, the custom drone show featured a series of dynamic animations inspired by adventure, alpine landscapes and the spirit of exploration that defines both Range Rover and Thredbo. With snow-covered peaks surrounding the village and thousands of guests gathered below, the display created a truly unforgettable experience unlike any previously seen in the Snowy Mountains.
Delivering a drone light show in an alpine environment presents unique operational challenges, from rapidly changing mountain weather to complex terrain and logistics. Through meticulous planning and precise execution, AURA successfully delivered a flawless performance, demonstrating the versatility and reliability of large-scale drone entertainment in even Australia's most challenging event locations.
As Australia's leading drone light show company, AURA continues to pioneer new destinations and experiences, bringing world-class aerial storytelling to audiences across the country. From city skylines and international sporting events to regional communities and alpine resorts, every performance is designed to create unforgettable moments that leave a lasting impression.
We thank Thredbo, NPWS, and Range Rover for the opportunity to help launch this incredible week of alpine experiences and are proud to have brought drone light shows to the Snowy Mountains for the very first time.
